The key to gaining muscle is progressive overload.⠀However, lifting heavier weights is not the only way to achieve progressive overload.⠀Your second choice is to lift the same weight but for more reps. Typically I encourage to stick at the same weight but increase the reps for a few weeks. Lets say we've got an intermediate lifter who is squatting 120kg for 3 sets in the 8-10 rep range:
